The Discussing Crew attended Pensacon 2018. Join me as I recap our trip to Florida for the 5th Annual Pensacon.  Thanks to everyone who worked to make Pensacon an enjoyable experience.

Pensacon 2018 – Day 1

Our day began quite early. By 7am, I had left home, drove to Clarence’s and loaded our equipment into the back of my SUV. We were headed South on our way to Pensacola, Florida for Pensacon 2018, stopping at our old stomping grounds, the City of Hattiesburg, for breakfast at McDonald’s.  

Our trip provided opportunities to record several videos, this time themed around The Walking Dead. (See out first video, Kyle Finally Watches the Walking Dead, by clicking here.)

Pick-up of media credentials?  Done.

Convention personnel and volunteers?  Very cordial and helpful.

Friday led us first to the vendor floor where I met Suzanne Bowen of Suzahdi, who Clarence had met previously on the Gulf Coast.

Next stop – Christopher Judge’s panel. He was hilarious and nothing like the character he portrayed on Stargate SG1.  

We left the panel, ate, and attempted to see John De Lancie. Unfortunately, the panel filled to capacity before we arrived.

The evening brought us together with the Dicejunkies Crew, and – after a nice dinner – I worked on editing the latest (at the time) episode of Discussing Who. In the meantime, Clarence headed to the Grand Hotel with Dicejunkies to see Paul Patecek from the Krewe Du Who. (Sorry to say – I’m two strikes down on my part for seeing Paul again!! Clarence & Dicejunkies 3-0 | Kyle 1-2 )

Pensacon 2018 – Day 2

Saturday morning is an early start and as we return to the vendor floor. Amongst those we met were the very kind team from WSRE – PBS for the Gulf Coast.  (Totally cool and they are big Doctor Who fans!)

We venture over to Arthur Darvill’s panel. And, in a moment of insanity, I decide to get in line to ask a question. Cool thing about this? Our friend Jessica from SesskaSays served to calm my nerves as I chatted with her as I waited in line.  

Next up – John Barrowman!  What impressed me most about this performance was not the performance itself – it was Barrowman’s decision to not begin until everyone waiting had an opportunity to get into the auditorium and have a seat.  

Two words:  Class act!

We transported to a panel featuring Robert Duncan McNeill and Robert Picardo. Fantastic panel followed by Clarence and I taking a picture with Picardo – who was extremely nice.

The evening ended visiting with the DiceJunkies crew before heading back to Mississippi on Sunday morning.  

To all we met at Pensacon 2018, thanks for a great trip!  See you again in 2019!
