As a devoted Doctor Who fan and podcaster, I’m overflowing with anticipation for the upcoming fourteenth series, set to premiere on May 10 or 11, 2024 – depending on where you live. Allow me to share my excitement and delve into some of those reasons with you. 

The Fantastic Fifteenth Doctor

Ncuti Gatwa steps into the iconic role of the Doctor, bringing fresh energy and charisma. His portrayal promises to be a delightful blend of wit, vulnerability, and that quintessential Time Lord quirkiness. For me, he stood equal to David Tenant’s Fourteenth Doctor in The Giggle followed be a strong performance in The Church on Ruby Road. Obviously, I am already a fan!  

Ruby Sunday: A Gem of a Companion

Ruby Sunday, played by Millie Gibson, made her debut in The Church on Ruby Road. She’s sharp, resourceful, and unafraid to challenge the Doctor. Unlike the chemistry between Rose and the Ninth Doctor, the pairing for RTD2 looks to be fun and exciting. My hope is that we don’t see a romantic pairing between the two.  

The Global Simultaneous Launch

This season marks a groundbreaking moment in the Whoniverse. (I love saying Whoniverse!) For the first time ever, the Doctor’s adventures will unfold simultaneously across the globe. Whether you are in the U.S., the UK, or any other corner of the universe (well, almost), you will be able to join the journey right from the start. This isn’t just simulcast for an anniversary special. This is a simultaneous series!  

Adventures Across Time and Space

Oh, my Bridgerton! From the Regency era in England to war-torn futures, this season promises a lot! A smaller episode count gives RTD no time to waste, as shown by his writing six of eight episodes.  

Moffat Returns

BOOM! Moffat returns to write Doctor Who!

Mysteries

One thing I expect from the speculation so far is we are most likely wrong! Is Ruby a Time Lord? Is she from the same place as the Doctor? Who is Mrs. Flood? Who is the lady from the club and with Sir Isaac Newton? Is there a twist coming that we aren’t expecting (likely YES)?
