Age was the length of time that a person lived or a thing existed, or had been alive. Different species could live out lifespans of various lengths, and reach different ages. While the Fifth Doctor claimed to see the person, and not their age, instantly recognising an aged Piero, the War Doctor took longer to recognise an older Rejoice, even with prompting.
In Discussing Who Episode 10 we discussed the (potential) ramifications of changing a character’s age, sex, race, and sexual orientation. We pondered whether or not, for example, a character’s race was essential to his/her essence, or if it were malleable when paired against a story’s backdrop.
